The City of Torrance currently has 12 commissions, 1 council, 1 committee, and 3 boards that are advisory to the City Council. Commissioners are appointed by City Council. Anyone can serve as a City Commissioner.  

The City of Torrance accepts applications to serve on a commission year-round. Appointments are made in June. Applicants must have completed the Commission Certification Training and be an elector of the City of Torrance to be eligible. Please email CityClerk@TorranceCA.Gov to be registered for the online training.
